FactoryQA quality teamOctober 25, 2026 A supplier scorecard turns months of receipts, NCRs and SCARs into one number per supplier, so you can decide who to grow, who to watch and who to replace, and show suppliers where they stand. A scorecard only works if suppliers see it as fair, so the measures and weights matter more than the math. ## What to measure - **Quality.** Rejected parts or lots against total received, and the cost of the rejects. - **Delivery.** On-time delivery against the agreed date, ideally from your ERP rather than typed in. - **Responsiveness.** How quickly SCARs and requests are answered, and whether actions are effective. - **System health.** Current certifications, self-assessment results and audit findings. - **Commercial and service.** Pricing stability, communication, flexibility on changes. ## How to weight it Weight what hurts you most. For a plating or heat treat source, quality usually carries the most weight; for a high-volume stock supplier, delivery may. Keep weights the same within a commodity so suppliers are compared fairly, and write the weights down so suppliers can see how the score is built. ## Turn scores into decisions Set bands, for example preferred, approved, conditional and no new business, and agree what each means: who gets new work, who gets a development plan, who gets a re-audit. Review the bands with purchasing so the scorecard changes buying behavior. ## Share it Send each supplier their scorecard on a regular cycle, quarterly for key suppliers.
